ROBINSON EARNS SPOT ON NATIONAL TEAM

UNLV’s Khadevis Robinson finishes second in the men’s 800m run at national championships.

EUGENE, Ore. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV assistant coach Khadevis Robinson finished second overall in the men’s 800m run with a final time of 1:44.49 at the 2011 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. By virtue of his finish, Robinson earned a spot on the United States national team and will participate at the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea in late August. It will be Robinson’s seventh consecutive time competing for the Red, White and Blue at the World Championships.

Robinson finished two steps behind Nicholas Symmonds and his first-place time of 1:44.17. Charles Jock joined Symmonds and Robinson on the US squad after finishing third in 1:44.67.

“I wanted to win, but it didn’t happen,” Robinson said. “You gotta be grateful for what God gives you. Nick (Symmonds) ran a tough race, he ran well. I got second, I made the team, and now I have to go back to the drawing board to be back in position where I can race again.”

A four-time US national champion in both indoors and outdoors, Robinson shaved more than four seconds off his two previous times today after he previously clocked a 1:48.78 in the semifinal (Friday) and 1:48.52 in the first round (Thursday).
