COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team finished third overall at the 2012 Mountain West Outdoor Championships behind a 130-point showing at Cadet Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colo. The finish was the highest for the Rebels since a second-place performance at the inaugural conference meet in 2000. UNLV had 18 individuals place in the top eight and two relay teams finish either first or second Saturday afternoon.

Amanda Bingson, who won her third straight title in the hammer throw on Friday, was awarded her third consecutive Outstanding Performance Award at the conclusion of Saturday's action.

"We are so proud of how this team competed," said head coach Yvonne Wade. "When we fell short in one area we came up big in another. It was really a team effort all around. Although we had set our sights higher, we are not disappointed with our team finish. We had so many student-athletes in the finals and left with a lot of hardware including Amanda's Outstanding Athlete of the Meet. We are very pleased."

UNLV got wins in the 800m, 400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay. Kelsey Williamson ran a 2:06.65 (altitude adjusted) to claim the program's first MW crown in the 800m, while Christine Lowe ran a conference- and personal-best time of 58.29 to take the title in the 400m hurdles. Both Williamson and Lowe were integral parts of the 4x400m relay team that ran a season-best time of 3:38.04.

Brett Zorich, who ran the second leg of the 4x400m relay, finished second in the 400m with a personal-best time of 54.00.

Emily Blok, the fourth member of the 4x400m relay, claimed second in the 200m (24.21) after running 23.71 in her preliminary round and third in the 100m (11.59).

Lowe finished sixth in the 400m (56.44).

The 4x100m relay - Zadia Bryant, Uchechi Anunkor, Secoral Yanez and Blok - was second overall with a final time of 45.25, which was a season best. Besides running legs of the 4x100m, Yanez was third in the 200m (24.43) and seventh in the 400m (56.47), while Anunkor was fourth in the 100m (11.79).

UNLV had three others finish highly in the 800m, as the trio claimed fifth through seventh. Alison Bartosch was fifth (2:15.29), Corey Honeycutt was sixth (2:16.23) and Courtney Allen (2:18.96) was seventh. Bartosch also took eighth in the 1500m with a time of 4:50.33.

Besides Lowe's win in the 400m hurdles, Laura Affeld took fourth in the event with a personal-best time of 60.54. In the 100m hurdles, Erin Morris (14.00 PB) and Erin Straughter (14.10) were third and sixth, respectively.

On the field, Deja Edwards and Myshauna Alexander scored points for the Rebels. Edwards was seventh in the long jump (38-11.50/11.87m), while Alexander threw the third-best outdoor performance mark in program history with a toss of 158-2 (48.22m).
