DyeStatNV Northern 4A Team Rankings

By, Ed Parise

The rankings one week away from Northern Nevada Regionals had some very interesting movement. The High Desert and Sierra league raced at the same course just in different races so we have some combined results that will make for some interesting developments next week.

Northern Boys Rankings

1.       Spanish Springs (Holding the top spot as they have all year and back to back High Desert league champions)

2.       McQueen (Sitting in the second spot looking to knock Spanish Springs off to win their third title in a row)

3.       Reed (Moved up 3 spots from 6th with a strong performance from Ocegueda and their 2nd & 3rd runners)

4.       Douglas (Stayed in the 4th spot with their pack mentality with numbers 3 through 7 runner)

5.       Galena (Moved down two spots however right in the thick of things with strong perfomances 1 – 5)

6.       Damonte Ranch (Slipped one spot very strong top two runners and younger runners looking to breakout)

7.       Reno (Held the 7th position with McMillen looking to guide their team up standings in the regional meet)

8.       Bishop Manogue (Could make things interesting with their top 2 juniors up with the top pack)

9.       Carson (Lead by a freshman runner could provide an interesting twist to the team rankings)

10.   Wooster (Top runner made a return to competition this week with an impressive performance)

The boys’ teams appear to have six teams battling for the top 3 spots next week at Shadow Mountain. Please come out to the races on Friday at 11:00 am for the Boys Regional 4A championship race.

Northern Girls Rankings

1.       Reno (Holding the top sport for the majority of the season looking to use their depth to repeat as Champions)

2.       Damonte Ranch (In the second spot after winning the Sierra league with a Moyer out front then a pack of 3-7 runners staying near the front pack)

3.       McQueen (Moved up 1 spot to with strong performances with their top 4 runners separated only by 27 seconds)

4.       Bishop Manogue (Slipped 1 spot with solid performances from runners 1-6)

5.       Douglas (Moved up 4 spots with their top runner near the front of the pack and the rest of the pack moving up in the race every step.

6.       Reed (Moved up 2 spots with King-Shaw looking to lead her younger team to Regionals)

7.       Carson (Is in the seventh spot with two juniors and a freshman leading the way for them)

8.       Galena (Fell 3 spots but watch out for them they were missing 3 of their top 5 runners in the league championship race)

9.       Spanish Springs (Top runner is looking to get on the podium at Regionals and provide leadership to a relatively young team)

10.   Wooster (Has closed the gap in team scores each week and is led by Ipsen who appears to be battling for individual regional title)

The girls team is looking like there is 6 teams looking for those top 3 team spots next week trying to punch their ticket to State Meet. The ladies will be running at 1:15pm at Shadow Mountain Regional Park
