Performance of the Week, 12/12/16

 

Here are this week's nominees for the high school performance of the week. You can vote for two! Thanks.

 

- Claudia Lane, Malibu CA: The sophomore led wire to wire to win the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in 17:04. She is the first Californian to win since Jordan Hasay in 2008.

- Reed Brown, Southlake Carroll TX: The senior used strong running on the big downhills and a fast kick over the final 200 meters to win the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in 15:01. He is the first Texan to win since 1985.

- Nevada Mareno, Leesville Road NC: The senior finished second at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships, running 17:08. She was the only runner to challenge Claudia Lane in the late stages of the race.

- Talon Hull, Weber UT: The senior improved on his 37th place finish a year ago to take 4th at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships, running 15:07.

- Page Lester, National Cathedral for Girls DC: The junior finished 32nd at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships as the first girl to ever qualify from the District of Columbia, running 18:20.

- Alex Maier, Flower Mound TX: The sophomore followed up a 5th-place finish at NXN with a 5th-place finish at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships, running 15:10.

- Grace Ping, Unattached UT: The eighth grader won the Girls 13-14 4k race at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships, running 13:20 and winning by 26 seconds.

- Erik Gonzales, Ribidoux CA: The senior ran the fastest 5k of the day at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships, running 15:41.

- Jayla Kirkland, Woodlawn AL: The senior ran a US#1 60 meters in 7.48 in the Holiday Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.

- Trey Cunningham, Winfield AL: The senior followed up a US#1 60 meter hurdles (7.63) with a 7.75 clocking to win the Holiday Invitational.
